More about the board

Chelsey McDill, Executive Director, Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Services

Chelsey has been Executive Director for Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center since 2014 and considers it a gift to be able to use her experiences from the business world to serve and love families in our community. She and her family worship at Veritas Church. Chelsey has held leadership positions in call centers, sales, marketing teams, non-profit organizations and at her church. She is a 2013 graduate of the Leadership for Five Seasons Program and a 2013 recipient of the Corridor Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 designation. As a special surprise to her story, Chelsey graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA with a Vocal Performance Degree, proving that God uses the most unlikely person to fulfill His plan. Chelsey and her husband, Don, have two grown children, Zach (Rachael) and Ashley (Nate) and a younger son Max. They also have three beautiful grandsons; Easton, William and Kaiden.

What Chelsey says about Serve the City:

“I believe in the potential of Serve the City in our community! I believe in the power of those unified in Christ, to do his work in love and grace. I believe we are better together; learning, growing and supporting one another. Serve the City has such a great opportunity to uplift, influence, and share the love of Christ with the people of Cedar Rapids in a way that’s unique. I pray that I can be helpful in this rebirth of Serve the City in Cedar Rapids….”

Robin Tyner, Associate Pastor, Stonebridge Church

Robin is married to Kathryn and they have two daughters, both of whom are married, and one  grandchild. He has been a pastor at Stonebridge Church for 27 years and delights in seeing people whole-heartedly follow Christ and use their gifts to serve others. Robin enjoys reading a good book, taking walks with Kathryn and traveling. His favorite places to visit include Israel, the mountains of Colorado and the beaches of Florida.

What Robin says about Serve the City:

“….I love being a part of Serve the City because our mission is to pursue unity and health in Christ that leads to collaborative efforts of prayer, care, and share to win our city for Christ. When God sees His children, working together in unity and sharing the good news of the gospel with others, it brings a smile to His face. My involvement with Serve the City has also helped me develop some wonderful friendships with other brothers and sisters in Christ….”

Mary Lou Erlacher, Longtime Community Leader and Volunteer

Mary Lou is a long-time community volunteer and activist in education alternatives, especially, focusing on individuality of learning styles and the relevancy between education and the world of work– preparing the next generation for our shared future. Following her retirement from “professional life” in 2015, she had the opportunity to join a ministry endeavor, through Cornerstone Church, exploring and connecting Faith and Work. She has served on various non-profit boards and loves reading, walking, studying/learning, and being “Nana” to five grandchildren. She has been married to David for more than 50 years and treasures their time together.

What Mary Lou says about Serve the City:

“…..I believe that Serve the City makes God smile!  From His view there is one true Church and, while each body of believers has its own work to do, when we come together using our gifts to pray, praise and promote the Gospel, it pleases Him and He strengthens us and, ultimately, our communities to reach others for His Kingdom!……”

Steve Pickering, Longtime Community Leader and Volunteer

What Marcus says about Serve the City:“……The Bible-believing Church in Eastern Iowa simply cannot function without churches loving other churches, and this love requires inter-church relationships in order to flourish. Serve the City fulfills a unique role in creating and giving life to these relationships between Christians who know Jesus and trust their Bibles, yet worship in diverse ways or come from different denominational backgrounds…..”
