Understanding, Training and Leading Millennials and Gen Z in Ministry Contexts
This seminar provides an overview of the core characteristics, needs and desires of the Millennial generation (ages 23-37), and a look ahead at Generation Z (ages 7-22). It delves into the societal, educational, and technological trends that have significantly influenced these cohorts. Differences in learning styles, work ethic, communication expectations, and measurements of success often result in frustration and misunderstanding on inter-generational ministry teams. We will look at key strategies for effectively engaging those we are training and working with across generations. Millennials, who have now surpassed Baby Boomers as the majority of the workforce in America, also bring new perspectives on leadership. We will conclude with a look at inter-generational leadership, with unique implications for the church or ministry context.
