What are the dates this year?
We will continue to meet on the second Thursday of each month:
2021: September 9; October 14; November 11 (breakfast); December – no meeting
2022: January 13; February 10; March 10 (breakfast); April 14; May 12.
Why are we having two breakfasts this year?
The STC board of directors and planning team would like to reach out to people who are not able to attend over the lunch hour for various reasons. We have scheduled one breakfast in the fall (November) and one in the spring (March). We will start at 7 AM and finish by 8:30 AM.
Do we have a theme for this year?
Yes! Our theme is “Thrive”. We seek to be a thriving community that promotes unity and points others to Christ. We also desire to thrive in our marriages, relationships, unity, in loving others, finances and in reaching a hurting world. Our prayer is that we can thrive together in reaching our community for Christ.
Who are we trying to reach with these monthly events?
Christian leaders in Linn County (and surrounding areas within a 30-minute drive). This includes pastors, church staff, ministry and business leaders and interested members of the community. Anyone is invited to attend, but our primary target audience is Christian leaders.
What is the purpose of these monthly gatherings?
Serve the City seeks to promote relationship-building opportunities that encourages engagement and inspires others to mobilize for prayer, care and share initiatives. These monthly gatherings help fulfill the mission of Serve the City.

To pursue unity and health in Christ that leads to collaborative efforts of prayer, care, and share to win our city for Christ.
What objectives does Serve the City hope to achieve with meeting monthly?
Serve the City seeks to create networking and fellowship opportunities at every monthly gathering and to educate, equip and encourage leaders to be part of “something bigger”. We also hope to build trust among attendees and promote city-wide collaborative activity that mobilizes volunteers. We desire to create a sense of “we are in this together” in impacting our community for Christ.
Why should I attend?
Our goal is to inspire and encourage all attendees and to promote relationship-building opportunities that contribute to building unity in the Cedar Rapids area. We believe that the combination of fellowship, food and inspirational speakers is worth the time investment. We hope that you will find these gatherings enjoyable and impactful.
What if I want to bring a friend?
If you bring someone who has never attended before, you and your guest will eat for free! Everyone is welcome to attend, and we encourage you to invite others.
What is the policy regarding masks?
Serve the City follows all CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of masks. We respect your right to wear a mask at our monthly events.
Where will the monthly gatherings be held?
At different locations in the Cedar Rapids area.
How does Serve the City get the word out?
Serve the City communicates via email, our website (currently under construction) and social media (click the links at the top of the page) on a regular basis.
What is the cost?
The cost is $8 per person and includes a buffet-style lunch, dessert, drinks, and a great program.
